In this post, I want to give a complete and in-depth review of the Razer Basilisk V3. All my judgments about this mouse are based on my personal experience during one month using this mouse.
It can be challenging to select the best gaming mouse. Some items costing more than $50 may not always be able to provide you the sensation you want. I certainly felt that way when I initially used the Razer Basilisk V3. I must say, though, that after adjusting for approximately a month, my perspectives have begun to shift.
This is a quick review of the Razer Basilisk V3, which I believe is a good mouse for FPS (First Person Shooter) gamers. Are you curious about the benefits? Come on, just glance!
Build Quality
The Razer Basilisk V3 has a premium build quality. The plastic body has a very substantial feel to it and doesn’t flex or creak at all. Only the scroll wheel wobbles little, but this is expected because it has L/R tilt functions, and it doesn’t interfere with use.
Increasingly Comfortable
Let me begin by stating that I am a gamer that primarily plays shooters on a daily basis. I’ve been playing Valorant the most recently. I obviously need a mouse that is solid in my hand so that my shots are always accurate given the competitive aspect of the game.
The Razer Basilisk V3 was made with the right hand in mind. Left-handed players are unable to use this mouse due to its layout and button location. The item has pretty large dimensions and weighs 101 grams, which is neither light nor heavy in my opinion. Perhaps lighter is preferable for gamers who are more competitive.
With a small depression and a place for your thumb, it appears ergonomic. Since the right-click region is designed to be lower than the left-click area, my hand is inclined slightly to the right when I hold it. Maybe that’s what forced me to adjust for so long. Truthfully, it takes a lot of adjustment to a design like this (perhaps because I rarely review gaming mice too).
I have a medium-sized hand, and instead of using claws, I usually use a palm-style mouse, which involves grabbing the entire mouse body. The Basilisk V3’s dimensions are still a touch too large in my opinion. On this mouse, the button at the end of the thumb rest serves as a Sensitivity Clutch by default. Well, I find it a little challenging to reach this button, and if you have small hands, it will be even more challenging. In actuality, it serves a very useful purpose.
For those who are unaware, the Sensitivity Clutch works to instantly lower or raise the DPI to a set level, and is only effective while this button is depressed. The DPI will reset to the original level when the button is released. If it’s not necessary, you can modify this button’s functionality to suit your preferences.
I couldn’t locate any other significant control for operational issues save the requirement for adaptation and the location of the Sensitivity Clutch button, which may be less practical for some users. The more frequently I use it, the more comfortable I find this mouse to be.
The Razer Basilisk V3 features a matte surface with a nice to the touch, non-slip texture that is resistant to oily finger smudges. The 1.8-meter Speedflex cable that this mouse uses is extremely flexible, doesn’t tangle easily, and has exceptional resilience for long-term usage. This mouse is still corded, therefore it is not wireless.
Razer Focus+ 26K DPI Optical Sensor
There are 10 buttons in all, plus a profile-switch button (which can save up to 5 profiles) that is located at the bottom of the mouse, if you count them all. On each button, you may optimize features like push-to-talk, macros, and more. The tactile experience that the buttons themselves offer is ideal for me.
The Razer Focus+ optical sensor with 26K DPI and the second-generation Razer Optical Mouse switch with an actuation speed of 0.2ms make this mouse stand out above the competition. The Basilisk V3 incorporates the most recent Razer HyperScroll Tilt Wheel, which has three scrolling options: tactile scrolling, smart-reel scrolling, and free-spin scrolling.
The mouse feet are made entirely of PTFE, which I find to be incredibly smooth when scrolling on a mousepad or straight on a table. It’s enjoyable to support games in Valorant and other titles that demand quick aiming and great precision because mouse movement also feels light, smooth, and accurate.
Razer Chroma And Razer Synapse
If the gaming equipment is not illuminated with RGB lights, it feels lacking. With 11 Razer Chroma light zones that you can personalize with more than 16.8 million colors and a variety of intriguing effects, Basilisk V3 is not for the faint of heart. The cool thing is that more than 150 games have already been integrated with this capability, according to Razer.
Razer Synapse program allows you to change the color effect. Razer has included a number of pre-installed Quick Effects, including Audio Meter, Spectrum Cycling, Breathing, and others, as well as Advanced Effect choices, allowing gamers to customize colors and effects to their preferences.
Additionally, you may change the sensitivity (DPI) with the Razer Synapse application. There are 5 predetermined stages for easy changes. Stage 1 is 400, Stage 2 is 800, Stage 3 is 1600, and so forth. Unfortunately, you must choose Stages 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in that order. For instance, if you increase the DPI to Stage 2 and then decide the sensitivity is too high, you cannot just decrease it to Stage 1 again; instead, you must go to Stages 3, 4, and 5 before returning to Stage 1. Fortunately, if you don’t require many options, you can choose to cut the Stage in half merely.
Grip: Comfort Of Use
- Palm Grip: All hand sizes can use a palm grip comfortably on this mouse.
- Claw Grip: If you have small hands, utilizing a claw grip will make it challenging to reach the sniper button.
- Fingertip Grip: Although you can use this mouse in this manner if you like, it is not intended for usage with a fingertip hold. However, if you have smaller hands, the sniper button might be too far forward for you to comfortably reach.
Razer Basilisk V3 Pros and Cons
Pros

Conclusion
Since I don’t play DOTA very often, I can’t say whether or not this mouse is appropriate for the game. For sure, the Razer Basilisk V3 is a great option for FPS aficionados. Although it is not overly pricey, the functionality and convenience it provides are excellent.
